Once worshipped and venerated for their protective powers, their devotional lamps also served as a means of way finding throughout the city. Over 2,000 remain in Rome alone. Concepted for travelers and sacred art enthusiasts, the tablet app is a stand-alone or a wall-mounted interactive kiosk that explores the history of this global icon. The mobile app uses GPS geo spacial technology that tags each location for collecting and social sharing. Imaginably the collection grows virally within the participating community to include Marian sites globally in other countries such as France, Spain, and Latin America.
